Powerful and moving, Remmy Duchene's novel, "Straight Through the Heart" captivated me completely from the very first paragraph until the very last word...

Terrified by the exquistite agony of a thirty year friendship turned sour, because of his failure to communicate effectively, Keith tries instead to run from the one person he cannot escape...himself. A compelling tale, of lust, life, of hope and shattered lives, of the fierceness of acceptance, the irrationalism of predujice and overwhelming joy of unconditional love given and recieved.

Set against the lush and exotic backdrop of Jamaica, Ash and Keith are about to make the greatest discovery of all, -that love truly can conquer all. Despite the beliefs of it's people, the once safe and beautiful island paradise, turns menacing, vicious and ugly when the lovers are forced to flee under threat of deadly intent. Love however will not thwarted, their happiness and finding the fulfillment they both deserve is surely inevitable, regardless of any and all they must go through, to come out whole again on the other side. ...

Told with a passion and an erotism that will have your heart pounding...with a tenderness that aches for ease and with a triumphant need to soar and break free of the bonds that bind the human spirit...

A brilliant love story that will linger long after the telling...Thank you Remmy, simply beautiful! of Straight Through The Heart, left at Amazon...

Country Soul by Remmy Duchene
Publisher: Silver Publishing
Genre: M/M, Erotica, Contemporary
Length: 113 pages

Summary:

Jackson Rawlings loves music; in fact, making music has been something he’s always wanted to do. After his confession to homosexuality, his record label forced him out and after his latest world tour, he decided to give it all up. It breaks his heart to think of never doing music again but he just feels so broken.

Marques Lopez is a music exec who knows a good thing and a good man when he hears and sees them; and boy is Jackson Rawlings a good thing. But how is he supposed to put Jackson together again when he’s been broken so many times?

Kathy’s Review:

Country Soul by Remmy Duchene is a poignant story about second chances and finding love when least expected.

Jackson Rawlings’ homophobic music label drops him when he finally comes out of the closet. Convinced his career is over, he retreats to his ranch following his final concert and press conference. Marques Lopez is certain Jackson’s fans do not care about his sexuality and follows him to his ranch to persuade Jackson to sign with his record label.

Jackson Rawlings and Marques Lopez are three dimensional characters who are likeable and realistic. Jackson’s pain over the loss of his career is intense and jumps off the pages of Country Soul. Marques Lopez is a direct contrast to the lost and hurting Jackson. He is confident, successful, and comfortable in his own skin. Jackson and Marques are wonderful protagonists but the romance between them occurs at an unrealistically fast pace.

Country Soul by Remmy Duchene is a well written, sexy book with vibrant characters and deep emotion that quickly engage the reader. The secondary characters are immensely appealing and their interactions with Jackson and Marques are quite enjoyable. A charming epilogue puts the finishing touches on this delightful story.

Rated 3.5 Ravens by Kathy!

Keegan MacLamore has spent twenty-five years serving time for a crime he didn’t commit. He returns to his hometown with a realistic view of how he is perceived by the townspeople. Fortunately, his best friend, Jaxon Lesley, believes in his innocence.

Jaxon arrives at Keegan’s ranch to fulfill a promise. The moment he set eyes on the sexy rancher, Jaxon knew he was in trouble. His old attraction for Keegan has come back full force. However, the secret he has kept all these years could stop the romance before it has begun.

Can Keegan find it in his heart to forgive Jaxon?

Redemption is a story about second chances at love and life. The townspeople's cynical feelings toward Keegan MacLamore had little to do with his actual misconduct in the beginning. The negativity was destined to haunt him and destroy his young life. I felt sorry for Keegan at that moment. No matter what he did, he was labeled a troublemaker. Jaxon didn’t have a real family to rely on for guidance. It was hard to dislike him when you saw his dedication to Keegan and his desire to make amends. This story reminded me of what I sometimes dislike about small towns. There’s nothing like being the delegated whipping boy. The stress and unfairness of the situation can be enough to make anyone become a rebel.

The setting for this story isolates the characters, allowing readers an opportunity to focus on their attraction and budding relationship. Redemption moves at a moderate pace, and includes some scenes between Keegan and Jaxon that are anything but slow and relaxed. The characters grabbed my attention and I could see their internal battles being warred. Redemption is my first opportunity to read a book written by Remmy Duchene and I’m looking forward to reading more of his tales in the near future.

From Jessewave

I really liked this story and the characters and I thought that Colter proved himself to be a true friend to Keegan by never giving up the fight to clear his name. Keegan’s and Jaxon’s feelings for each other seemed to see saw but their sexual relationship was on fire. I thought that the writing in parts of the book was a bit uneven and choppy, but Keegan’s flashbacks to the crime, his nightmares, the scars on his body which weren’t explained but I assumed were as a result of beatings, and his enjoyment of simple pleasures like having a private shower as oppposed to communal showers in prison, were well done. However I felt that no sex in 25 years while Keegan was in prison didn’t make sense because I had always assumed it was a rite of passage that all the newbies had to submit and have sex with the bullies in prison. Notwithstanding this, both characters were well drawn especially Keegan who showed a lot of concern about the effect on Jaxon’s career if anyone found out that he was living with a convicted murderer.  The sex between the protagonists was very hot especially with a bid of mild BDSM thrown in and they mostly made love rather than just have sex.

Despite a few editorial errors I thought the book was well written and the author, Remmy Duchene, did a credible job. However one element of the story wasn’t wrapped up and that was the unanswered question about the case regarding what happened to the crooked Judge who tried the murder case originally. Also, I did not understand the importance of all of the financial information about Keegan’s wealth that came out at the end or maybe it was just to show that now that he was wealthy he could rub the faces of the townspeople in it. Last, Colter was a wonderful character and it’s too bad he was straight since I would have looked forward to his story.

I think you will like Redemption and I definitely recommend it

Redemption brings some of the hottest genres in romance together to make a story that is hotter than sin.  Cowboys, bad boys, wrongful incarceration and two hot men come together in one book for a combustible mix of heat and sensuality.  This is definitely one story that is not to be missed.  The characters seem to leap from the pages with intensity and passion.

When Keegan was a teenager in the town of Thayne, he was definitely not liked.  His manner and dress made him stand out and the fact that he rode a motorcycle and just happened to be gay just seemed to make it worse.  At the age of eighteen he was sentenced to thirty years in prison for a murder he did not commit and when he is released after twenty-five years, there is no where else for him to go but back to the place where he last called home.  Jaxon had no family growing up and he always had a thing for Keegan.  Over the years he has cared for the home left to Keegan by his loving grandfather, in an effort to give back to the man he loves from afar.  With Keegan home and Jaxon willing to do anything for the man he loves, the chance for old wrongs to be righted takes on a life of its own.

Remmy Duchene has crafted a story that will bring tears to the eyes and leave you wanting more.  These characters will find a way into the readers hearts and minds, and stick with them for a long time to come.  I can not wait to read more from this very gifted author.  If Redemption is what we can expect then I am eagerly anticipating more stories with even more depth and drama.

Redemption is Available for purchase at Loose Id.

I really liked the story description of Redemption; I love second-chance-at-love stories and stories of, well, redemption. I thought that the title it fit the story; it was very appropriate, although not in the way I expected. I enjoyed the way that Remmy Duchene set up the story. Once I started reading and noticed that it is set in Thayne, Alberta... well, I was tickled pink. Alberta is my home province, and it’s always exciting to have my part of the world, with which I’m familiar, used in a book. I know, it doesn’t take much to please me, but in many ways it made the story more immediate.

I liked Keegan and Jaxon; two more different men you couldn’t find... at least at first glance. Keegan had always been of the land while Jaxon ran the streets of the town. Keegan was convicted of murder while Jaxon plays professional baseball. But they’re both men who’ve suffered over the past 25 years; Keegan’s imprisonment speaks for itself, but Jaxon’s got a secret that’s been eating away at him for the last two-and-a-half decades.

I felt for both of them, trapped by a past and uncertain as to the future. I don’t think either of them expected to feel the attraction to each other, but Keegan was much less well equipped to handle it. At times I would feel as though there was a bit too much angst... but then again, I could see that what they were feeling had basis in their experiences.

This was my first story by Remmy Duchene; I’ve already found his website and made note of the books that I want to add to my collection. I love when that happens!

BOOK REVIEW:
"...Its not uncommon in a book that incorporates more than one genre for one of those genres to get lost behind the other. That does not happen in "The Orchid Murders," a mystery romance by authors John Simpson and Remmy Duchene...."

".... As the cops set about solving their case, there are many twists and turns that are sure to keep the reader just as baffled as the cops...."

"...On the romance front, the chemistry between Anderson and Sam is present from the beginning; yet the circumstances under which they first meet are tragic..."

"... I loved how the mystery grabbed me in the beginning as well as the way all the strong characters and snappy dialog kept my attention till the end. I hope this will not be the last story these two put out together and highly recommend it to both mystery and romance fans alike..."

Charles A. Lane - Alaska (Amazon.com customer reviews)

Yale can be creepy. The first movie I saw on campus was an short art film where an eyeball was sliced with a straight razor. Very good for character building. Skull and Bones always gave me the creeps. I am not sure why a liberal university tolerates it. This novel builds on that creepiness in an intriguing mystery involving a serial killer in NYC. The writers Remmy Duchene and John Simpson make a good team. It reads better than Simpson's other books although I am addicted to several of them including the Condor series.

When Anderson Williams finds his father's body his first feeling is of horror. He doesn’t really notice the sexiness of the Homicide Detective who responds to the call. When Sam Morgan answers the second call of a mutilated body not only does he find that he might have a serial killer on his hands but that the son of the murdered man is an attraction he might do without, but he can't help himself and he seduces Anderson.

Soon the murders keep stacking up and Sam is feeling the heat to solve the cases. When the killer threatens Anderson life Sam is there to keep Anderson safe. Sam has a little trouble at first because Anderson can't seem to separate his career and his personal life. To save Anderson though Sam must keep him close and safe.

Can Anderson reconcile Sam's two lives or will the killer get in the way? I like a good murder mystery romance. The Orchid Murders has both romance and mystery in equal parts. The blending is done just right and makes this book one well worth picking up.

The one problem I had was Anderson's attitude in the beginning. It was a bit much and put me off till Sam was able to get thru it himself. Then the story went were it was supposed to go. I was the off on a thrill ride. You will be in for a treat with the twists and turns of the investigation and the old boy society of the Yale University. It made for an interesting read. Mixed in were the very hot loves scenes between Sam and Anderson, as well as the bumpy start of their relationship. This one is going to be put in my keeper file. I would recommend The Orchid Murders for those who like a lot of romance with just the right amount of mystery mixed in.

Jack Malone knows his friendship with Rusty Hunter means the world to him. The two men forged their bond over the course of seventeen years as pen pals. When the letters stopped coming, something in Jack stopped functioning and he needs his long-time friend to explain how their friendship has deteriorated to this degree.

Rusty hasn’t stopped caring for Jack and in fact, the opposite has occurred. Rusty wants his friend to take up as much residence in his bed as he has in his heart.

It was hard not to like Jack and Rusty’s characters. Jack overcame the hurts of his adolescence and has become an outstanding policeman. Rusty is no slouch himself, and takes pride in his ranch. When the truths were finally revealed, I was happy the men didn’t take a rollercoaster ride on denial and send us through “I think I should, I know I shouldn’t” scenes that so many books seem to enjoy adding. Remmy Duchene’s characters know their minds enough not to allow the denial to go until it’s the “just do it already” level. I’m starting to appreciate that more and more, as of late. Saddle Up 'N' Ride! is a wonderful quick read and is entertaining both inside and outside of the bedroom, w
ith a believable plot and characters.

Rusty Hunter and Jack Malone have been pen pals for years; seventeen years to be exact. There isn’t much that happens in each other’s lives that the other doesn’t know about. The first person Rusty came out of the closet to was Jack and vice versa.

When Rusty’s letters stop, Jack feels alone and rejected. When he drops everything to visit the Charro Ranch to check on Rusty, he gets more than he bargains for. Rusty’s reason for stopping writing is nothing but chivalrous, but what if Jack doesn’t want to be protected?

Rusty Hunter knows that even though he’s been friends with Jack for so long, he must let Jack go. For the past two years, Rusty finds himself wanting more from his long distance friend than friendship. He’s been having some rather steamy dreams of the handsome Texas Ranger, so when Jack shows up on his doorstep Rusty knows he really is in trouble.

In this short erotic tale two longtime pen pals discover a passion that cannot be denied.

After years of friendship and writing to one another, rancher Rusty Hunter finds himself fantasizing and longing for more than friendship from his pen pal of over seventeen years, Texas Ranger Jack Malone. Confused by his feelings for his good friend and fearing rejection, Rusty stops writing to Jack causing Jack to wonder what he did to push his friend away. Jack hops on a plane to Canada to visit Rusty and when they finally learn to be honest with one another, they discover a passionate and erotic relationship that moves them beyond friendship into something more.

This was a quick, but entertaining read that I enjoyed a great deal. I was very touched by the bond and relationship between Rusty and Jack and could feel the passion that the two radiated. Their fantasies and scenes together heated up the pages in some very rough and erotic sex scenes, yet you could really sense the caring and concern they had for one another. The story had a lot of sex, but it also had emotion.

I will say that I wish there had been a bit more background given on the two men and their friendship as I found myself curious as to how a rancher from Canada met and became friends with a cop from Texas. It seems like their friendship started when they were quite young and they really helped one another through some rough times. And I would have loved to have known more. The story was almost too short and I didn’t want it to end.

I felt that this was a very fast-paced and enjoyable read about two men giving into a passion that steadily grew as their friendship did.

Kassa gave Remmy's first Phaze Books release 3.5 Stars.

"...the sex is generous and steamy with several explicit scenes within the short context. This is definitely a quick, erotic friends turned lovers theme that will appeal for those wanting something light, hot, and satisfying.
The prose was clear and easy, making for a fast read that is sure to heat readers. For those who particularly like cowboys in friends turned lovers theme, be sure to pick this up."

Stocking Stuffer

by Remmy Duchene

Book Blurb:

Down in the dumps for the holidays, Theo gets a call from longtime friend Christian, who wants to bring him some Christmas cheer. What he doesn't expect is Christian's declaration of love and well thought-out stocking stuffer!

"He held Christmas in contempt.  He hated it because everything that had gone wrong in his life had happened on Christmas day or sometime during the season."

Theo really hates the Christmas season as so many things have gone wrong during his life at that time of year.  His father died on Chrismas Eve night, his mother abandoned him two years later, he was placed in a horrible foster home on Christmas day and his last relationship ended on Christmas day two years prior.  The one person that Theo can count on is his best friend Christian.  The only problem is that Theo has fallen in love with Christian, and is convinced he can't say anything from fear of ruining their relationship.  When Christian calls and asks to come over, of course Theo says yes.  When Christian blurts out that he is in love with Theo, things get quite interesting indeed.

This is a fun little story that plays with the ever popular theme, best friends that fall in love.  Poor Theo has been dealt a horrible set of cards and everyone in his life has left him starting with his father and ending with his homophobic adoptive parents and most recent lover.  You can't help but feel bad for Theo and want him to be able to have something good in his life, namely Christian.  Once the men realize that their feelings are the same, the story takes a decidedly sexy and steamy turn.  Theo and Christian are so close, they know each other so well, they can get angry with each other and still be there for one another.  Christian is determined to be the one person that doesn't leave Theo, and it makes for a cute story about love and friendship.  I think the story could have benefited from more details around the sex scenes but overall the story is an enjoyable story with interesting characters.

Synopsis:

When a serial killer that Ontario Police Detective Tao Drakes is suppose to nab flees Canada, Tao is fresh on his tail. The last thing he wants is to fall in love. But when he sees his host, Detective Kenneth Davis, all logical thoughts leave Tao's mind.

Homosexuality on the island is a major taboo that is not taken lightly. Now, Tao must protect Kenneth's secret, catch a killer who is becoming more brazen by the minute and protect his own heart.

Toronto Detective Tao Drakes needed to find the "Joker", the prime suspect in a round of serial murder cases that stated off with young, beautiful women as the victims but now the focus is gay men. With a tip that takes him to sunny Jamaica, Tao meets local Officer Ken Davis. More than the heat rises as these two encounter one of the Island's biggest taboos - homosexuality. The "Joker" is close the either man is comfortable with him being. Will their blooming attraction and love be enough to overcome the past hurts and prejudices?

Mr. Duchene's vividly detailed novel made me feel not only the warmth of the Caribbean but also the heavy attraction between Tao and Ken. I felt that Tao was a Knight in Shining Armor. He stood up to the stereotypes even when the people dishing out the foulness mattered to him. Ken seemed to be waiting to be rescued by a Knight, I loved reading as their love story unfolded in the heat of the moment. And there were a lot of heated moments in this novel, If you are just starting to read m/m romances or if you are a veteran, Caribbean Heat will warm more places than your heart.

Caribbean Heat

Police Detective Tao Drakes is regretting the moment when an Ontario serial killer was able to flee Canada. With his ruthless reputation for making a criminal come clean or screw-up, the “Joker” has just created a smudge mark on his record for getting his guy. When the killer strikes again, Tao must travel to Jamaica to bring the man back to justice.

Jamaica is a beautiful tropical paradise with one major taboo: homosexuality. That’s a hard pill to swallow when you are a gay resident, but Detective Kenneth Davis has learned to leave those thoughts and emotions out of his daily routine. That was until he is teamed up with Tao.

Will the Detectives be able balance apprehending a criminal and their strong attraction? Or will it become too much of a distraction and allow for another casualty?

Remmy Duchene gives us a moment’s reprieve from the cold weather in Caribbean Heat. Tao has no family to go home to, so has opted on burning the candle from both ends at work. He loves his job and is good at what he does. Kenneth is every straight woman and gay man’s walking island fantasy. Between his good looks and sharp mind Tao was left defenseless but more than willing to step up to the challenge. Remmy Duchene has created two wonderful characters that are strong of mind, body, and determination. I loved their chemistry and their ease of working and communicating with one another. I also appreciated the fact that the heroes had time to find romance while solving a mystery with an implausible twist. If you enjoy detective stories and island mystery then Caribbean Heat should not be missed.

I liked the sentiment and the emotions Eyan had, but personally wanted to shake him for not communicating, but then there wouldn’t have been the conflict and the hot sex.  All He Wants For Christmas was sweet and fast-paced, even if the characters had to go through some emotional angst to decide what they truly wanted from each other.
